The SPC has issued a tornado watch for Oktibbeha County and surrounding counties until 9:00 a.m. CT. I'm not overly concerned about a tornado threat for our area given that the storms to our west are rooted above the boundary layer, but severe thunderstorm warnings may be required for Clay, Lowndes, and Monroe Counties within the next hour or so. Damaging winds and small hail will be the primary threats associated with these storms, but heavy rain and frequent lightning will also accompany the storms as they move through the area. As the storms move through Oktibbeha County by 3:30, strong winds and lightning may occur, but we should not have to deal with any severe weather.
